1. Check With Your Local Air Quality Control
In Santa Cruz County contact the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District to confirm burn day status and to learn about new air quality permit burn requirements by calling:

or go to the Monterey Bay Unified Air Protection District's website at www.mbard.org or call (831) 647-9411

2. Check the State Burn Permit Website
Burning out of season may result in a citation and you could be liable for ALL fire suppression costs.

3. Always Check With Your Local Fire Dept prior to burning to determine whether or not a permit is required.
